Discover Abu Simbel Temple

Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s most dramatic ancient sites, created during the reign of Ramesses II and carved directly into the sandstone cliffs of southern Egypt. The complex is especially famous for the scale of its façades and the way architecture, sculpture and desert setting work together.

The magnet shows the Great Temple from the front, with the four colossal seated statues of Ramesses II flanking the entrance. Their immense scale dominates the image and makes the human doorway at the centre appear almost miniature.
