Discover Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the great ice landscapes of Argentine Patagonia, flowing from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Lago Argentino. Unlike many glaciers worldwide, its front remains close enough to established viewpoints for visitors to observe the immense wall of ice in detail.

The photograph on this magnet shows the glacier meeting the lake. Jagged blue ice forms a long cliff above grey-green water, fragments of ice float near the face and snow-covered mountains close the horizon behind it.

Viewing platforms reveal crevasses, towers and changing shades of blue across the surface, while the sound of cracking ice is an important part of the experience. At times, large sections break from the front and fall into the lake in dramatic calving events.
