Discover Vinicunca

Vinicunca, widely known as Rainbow Mountain, is a high-altitude ridge in the Peruvian Andes south-east of Cusco. Its unusual coloured bands come from different mineral-rich layers exposed across the mountain slopes.

The magnet shows those stripes clearly. Bands of red, rust, pale green, beige and purple sweep diagonally across the terrain, while sharper Andean peaks rise beyond the rounded coloured ridge.

Reaching Vinicunca requires travelling to very high altitude and then approaching the viewpoint on foot or by local transport options. Thin air and rapidly changing mountain weather are important parts of the experience, so the journey can feel as memorable as the final view.
