Discover El Cajas National Park

El Cajas National Park lies in the high Andes west of Cuenca, Ecuador, where hundreds of lakes, wetlands and glacial valleys are scattered across a cool mountain landscape. Much of the park is covered by páramo vegetation adapted to wind, rain and high altitude.

The image on this magnet shows a quiet lake enclosed by steep dark ridges and rocky slopes. A wooden path enters the foreground, leading the eye towards the water and emphasising the feeling of walking directly into the highland landscape.

Trails through El Cajas pass lakes, streams, grasslands and patches of distinctive high-elevation forest. Weather can change rapidly, with mist and cloud often moving across the ridges, so the same route can feel very different even within a few hours.
