Discover Salar de Uyuni

During the dry season, Salar de Uyuni reveals a completely different face from its famous flooded mirror. Evaporation leaves an enormous white salt crust patterned by natural polygonal lines that repeat across the surface towards the horizon.

The magnet focuses on that dry-season geometry. Pale hexagonal and polygonal shapes fill the foreground, while the salt remains almost perfectly flat all the way to the distant horizon beneath an intense blue Altiplano sky.

With so few objects for scale, distances on the Salar become difficult to judge. Travellers often use the open surface for playful perspective photographs, but the repeating salt patterns themselves are one of the most distinctive details seen at ground level.
