Discover Valparaíso

Valparaíso is a historic port city on Chile’s Pacific coast, famous for steep hills covered in colourful houses. Staircases, funiculars, winding streets and viewpoints connect neighbourhoods that rise sharply above the harbour.

The magnet focuses on that hillside character. Blue, yellow, orange and red façades are stacked at different levels, while narrow streets and stairways weave between the buildings and make the slope itself part of the architecture.

Exploring Valparaíso means moving vertically as much as horizontally. Hills such as Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción reveal street art, older houses and changing views over the port, while the city’s historic lifts help overcome some of the steepest climbs.
